Another 90 degree day. On this evening's game drive, we stopped first by the river so we could stroll the bank and view the hippo, who had moved downstream from the Safari Camp. On the bank was a small and lonely crocodile.

Smaller than their southern African cousin, possibly the most common animal on the Mara.
Hyena
Despised by the native people, as they are considered dirty. Worse than vultures. They eat anything and every part of what they scavenge or kill, including bones and teeth. Their scat is white.
Or, is Thompson's gazelle the most common?
Do I remember correctly that a friend of mine described these animals as the "fast food" of the plains? Get it- "fast" food?
